Job Summary
Supporting the Enterprise Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy departments, the full-time Certified Coding Specialist will manage coding for both technical and professional services, ensuring compliance with coding standards and regulations while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Review medical documentation and assign appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes according to official classification systems
- Support providers in understanding covered indications and documentation requirements, participating in coding team meetings as a subject matter expert
- Monitor and validate physician charge capture, manage denial reviews, and prepare supporting documents for appeals
Required qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required
- Specific knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology, including successful coursework in ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent required, with the expectation to obtain certification within one year if not already certified at hire
