Certified Coding Specialist
Job Summary
Supporting Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Physicians, the full-time Certified Coding Specialist will review and evaluate professional coding and billing, serve as a resource for coding inquiries, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct systematic reviews of professional fee billing and coding to ensure documentation supports billed services
- Educate providers on coding practices based on research and audit findings
- Analyze and resolve issues related to missing charges and coding-related denials
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Two years of practical coding experience
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent required within three years of employment
- Formal education in ICD-10-CM coding, CPT-4 coding, and medical terminology preferred
- Experience with physician billing and coding strongly preferred
