Certified Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support accurate coding practices in a fully remote environment, the Certified Coding Specialist will review, interpret, and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes for physician services while ensuring compliance with regulations and organizational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assign and review coding for physician services, ensuring documentation supports coding accuracy and compliance with guidelines
• Resolve coding conflicts and rejected accounts, utilizing coding systems to maintain productivity and accuracy standards
• Participate in compliance initiatives to reduce coding-related denials and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certification as a CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS/CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist/Physician-based) is required
• 1-3+ years of professional coding experience, with strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), with Epic experience preferred
• Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and apply coding guidelines accurately
