Job Summary
Overseeing a team of medical coders, the full-time Certified Coding Supervisor will manage compliance with coding standards, coordinate educational programs, and ensure the accuracy of patient records in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the activities of 10 or more medical coders to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements
- Develop and coordinate training programs on coding documentation and trends, while providing support to staff as needed
- Monitor coding staff performance and collaborate with management to implement performance improvement initiatives
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree or formal training beyond high school is required
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) certification is required
- 5+ years of professional experience in a health plan setting with risk adjustment coding experience
- Strong knowledge of Clinical Documentation Improvement and Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC)
- Experience in Medicare Advantage plans and managed healthcare systems is preferred
