Certified DRG Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a DRG Specialist to ensure accurate coding and compliance in clinical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate electronic health records for accurate DRG assignment and coding compliance
• Formulate physician queries and provide educational communications on documentation requirements
• Assist in training new staff and report issues or trends to management for process improvements

Required Qualifications

• 3 years of clinical acute care medical/surgical experience, including critical care, with knowledge of DRGs
• OR completion of RHIA or RHIT program or CCS certification with 3 years of experience in DRG selection
• Specific knowledge as a consultant in Medical Record coding and DRG assignment is required
• Licensure as a CCS, CPC, RN, or equivalent is necessary
• Current licensure in the state where the facility is located or a multistate NLC license if applicable
