Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Certified Health Info Coder will assign ICD and CPT codes for patients receiving ancillary services and chemotherapy infusion, while ensuring accurate data entry into electronic databases for quality assessment and financial management.
Key responsibilities
- Assign ICD and CPT codes for patient accounts and abstract coded data into the information system
- Ensure accurate data entry for assessing quality of patient care and financial management
- Maintain coding credentials through regular education sessions and compliance with established procedures
Required qualifications
- At least 1 year of coding experience in an acute care setting with CPC or RHIT/RHIA/CCS credentials or eligibility
- Successful completion of an AHIMA or AAPC accredited Health Information Tech/Management or Coding program
- Base credential by AHIMA (RHIA/RHIT) or AAPC (CPC), or AHIMA CCS credential
- Coding experience with outpatient ancillary and infusion clinic records
- Proven skill with computers and computer systems
