Certified Hospital Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Hospital Coding Specialist III (Remote).

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines and assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG
• Review medical record documentation to identify and assign relevant codes and indicators
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists and assist with DRG validation requests

Required Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma, Health Information Management Degree, or related program
• Three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility
• Active credential of CCS, RHIT, or RHIA through AHIMA or AAPC at the time of hire
• Experience with electronic health record systems is preferred
• Academic or level I or II trauma experience is a plus
