Job Summary
Supporting the Coding department, the full-time remote Certified Hospital Outpatient Coder will accurately code medical records for outpatient services, resolve coding edits and rejections, and maintain coding compliance to ensure clean claim submissions and maximize reimbursements.
Key responsibilities:
- Accurately code medical records for hospital outpatient services, assigning and validating appropriate ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT codes
- Adhere to CMS Coding Guidelines and Facility Coding Compliance policies while reviewing and resolving coding edits, denials, and rejections
- Assist in staff training and implement process improvements within the coding department
Required qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Active Coding Certification from AHIMA or AAPC
- 2+ years of experience in outpatient hospital coding
- Experience with Epic and coding in wound care, oncology, injections & infusions, facility ER, trauma, and/or outpatient surgery preferred
- Advanced knowledge of ICD-10 CM and ICD-10 coding standards
