Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Inpatient Hospital Coder to review and analyze patient medical records and assign standardized codes for diagnoses and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
• Communicate with physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures through the query process
• Utilize electronic encoder applications to assign codes in compliance with practice policies and regulatory guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in hospital-based inpatient coding
• Current coding credential: CCS, RHIT, or RHIA (AHIMA)
• Experience with MS-DRG and APR-DRG
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
