Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Coder responsible for accurately coding and abstracting medical records for inpatient hospital stays.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes according to clinical documentation and coding guidelines
• Coordinate with clinical documentation and quality teams to validate coding and support appropriate documentation
• Monitor work queues to ensure timely charging of all records and generate coding queries as needed

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience in inpatient facility coding
• Preferred certifications include CCS, CIC, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT
• Experience with ICD-10-PCS and CM coding
• Experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is preferred
