Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support revenue cycle operations, the fully remote Certified Inpatient Coder will review medical records for accurate coding, utilize ICD-10 CM and PCS codes, and communicate with providers regarding documentation issues while ensuring timely and precise billing.

Key responsibilities

• Verifies and abstracts clinical and demographic data from patient records
• Assigns ICD-10 CM and PCS codes based on medical record documentation and conducts chart audits
• Collaborates with leadership to review coding discrepancies and denial reports, making recommendations for improvements

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or equivalent certification
• Three (3) years of ICD-10-CM and PCS coding experience
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
• Knowledge of coding guidelines and medical terminology
