Job Summary
Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Inpatient Coder will review inpatient and interventional radiology medical records, accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS/CPT-4 HCPCS codes, and manage coding responsibilities to ensure compliance with productivity standards.
Key responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and ICD-10-PCS/CPT-4 HCPCS procedural codes and DRG/APC as per guidelines
- Abstract required patient demographic data into the EMR and resolve coding edits in a timely manner
- Serve as a mentor to new coders and assist with coding unassigned or backlogged accounts
Required qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification preferred upon hire
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care inpatient and/or IVR coding experience required
- Demonstrated accuracy in coding and DRG assignment while meeting productivity standards
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, and ability to work in a remote environment
