Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Inpatient Coder will review inpatient and interventional radiology medical records, accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS/CPT-4 HCPCS codes, and manage coding responsibilities to ensure compliance with productivity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and ICD-10-PCS/CPT-4 HCPCS procedural codes and DRG/APC as per guidelines
• Abstract required patient demographic data into the EMR and resolve coding edits in a timely manner
• Serve as a mentor to new coders and assist with coding unassigned or backlogged accounts

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• CCS, RHIA, or RHIT certification preferred upon hire
• Minimum of 3 years of acute care inpatient and/or IVR coding experience required
• Demonstrated accuracy in coding and DRG assignment while meeting productivity standards
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, and ability to work in a remote environment
