Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support inpatient coding accuracy, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coder will assign diagnostic and procedure codes, coordinate with clinical teams for documentation validation, and monitor work queues to ensure timely record processing in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes in accordance with clinical documentation and coding guidelines
• Coordinate with clinical documentation and quality teams to validate Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Group (MSDRG) and other indicators
• Monitor assigned work queues to ensure timely charging of all records and generate coding queries as needed

Required qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or equivalent coding certification
• No prior experience required
• Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent lifting and data entry
• Knowledge of current coding conventions and updates
