Job Summary

To support health information management, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coder will code medical information into billing systems, perform inpatient coding for major traumas and NICU records, and ensure compliance with coding guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities
  • Code inpatient medical records using ICD and ICD-PCS codes, including major traumas and NICU cases
  • Verify and assign DRGs, MCC/CCs, and HAC/PSI codes based on clinical documentation
  • Review and prioritize coding work queues, addressing physician queries and ensuring compliance with coding standards
Required qualifications
  • Certification Program or Associate degree or Coding Certificate through an approved coding certification program
  • Three years of coding experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting, with inpatient coding experience
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification
  • Experience with EPIC health information system preferred
  • Successful completion of the IP Coder Associate program may be considered in lieu of education and experience requirements
