Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support a community hospital's revenue cycle, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coder will review clinical documentation, assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes, and validate MS-DRG calculations, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Select and sequence ICD-10 CM and PCS codes for acute facility inpatient records
• Review clinical records to ensure accurate MS-DRG assignments reflecting documented diagnoses and procedures
• Abstract clinical data to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition while maintaining compliance with regulations

Required qualifications

• Active AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC (COC, CCS-P, CPC) credential
• Two years of recent hands-on coding experience with acute inpatient records
• Successful completion of a pre-employment skills assessment
