Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Leading a team of coding professionals, the full-time remote Certified Inpatient Coder will mentor and train staff while coding inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services, ensuring accurate assignment of CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM-PCS codes.

Key responsibilities

• Code complex inpatient and outpatient records using encoder software and maintain coding quality standards
• Train and assist coding staff, including new hires, in coding practices and documentation requirements
• Communicate with clinical staff to resolve documentation issues and ensure compliance with coding regulations

Required qualifications

• 5 years of experience in complex outpatient and inpatient coding
• Associate Degree in health information management or a related field
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT/HCPCS coding principles
• Experience with coding software and hospital billing practices
