Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Inpatient Coder will be responsible for accurately coding and abstracting inpatient cases from medical records, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
• Organizes and prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information

Required qualifications:

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
• Certified Coding Specialist OR Registered Health Information Technician OR Registered Health Information Administrator certification
• Basic knowledge of computer keyboard and mouse usage
• Ability to meet established productivity and quality standards for coding
