Job Summary
Residing in Northern California, the full-time Certified Inpatient Coder will be responsible for accurately coding and abstracting inpatient cases from medical records, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Key responsibilities:
- Review medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures
- Organize and prioritize work assignments to ensure timely and compliant coding
- Interact with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information
Required qualifications:
- Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
- High School Diploma or GED with completion of relevant medical coding classes from an accredited program
- Certification as a Coding Specialist or Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator
- Basic knowledge of computer operations and coding software
- Ability to meet productivity and quality standards for coding and abstracting
