Job Summary
To support accurate hospital billing processes, the full-time remote Certified Inpatient Coder will analyze, code, and abstract complex inpatient cases while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and maintaining coding quality and productivity standards.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze and code complex inpatient cases using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems, ensuring accurate APR-DRG/SOI/ROM and POA assignment
- Monitor daily work to facilitate timely billing, maintaining a coding accuracy rate of 90% and a productivity rate of 95%
- Communicate with various hospital departments regarding billing issues, collaborate with auditing teams, and ensure compliance with coding standards
Required qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent; formal ICD-10-CM and CPT training preferred, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of three years of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS coding experience in a Level 1 Trauma and Rehab hospital, or four years of inpatient hospital coding experience
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) is required
