Certified Inpatient Coder
Job Summary
To support healthcare facilities, the PRN Inpatient Coder will accurately abstract and enter data into electronic medical record systems, assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, and maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% or better while working remotely and committing to a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to inpatient accounts as per designated workflow
- Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistical and reporting requirements
- Query physicians to clarify conflicting or incomplete clinical information when necessary
Required Qualifications
- Valid CCS credential is required
- 5+ years of experience in a Trauma Level 1/Academic Teaching facility
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding
- 3+ years of coding experience within the US
