Certified Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Inpatient Coder will be responsible for accurately coding and abstracting inpatient cases from medical records, utilizing ICD-CM, ICD-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews medical record documentation to identify and code diagnoses and procedures accurately
• Ensures timely and compliant coding by organizing and prioritizing work assignments according to regulatory requirements
• Interacts with physicians to clarify and document patient diagnostic and procedural information effectively

Required Qualifications

• Three years of continuous hospital coding experience within the last five years
• High School Diploma or GED with completion of classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and coding conventions from an accredited program
• Certification as a Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician, or Registered Health Information Administrator
• Ability to achieve a minimum score of 75% on the KP Inpatient Coding test
• Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes relevant to inpatient coding
