Certified Inpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a HIM Inpatient Coding Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately assign DRG, diagnosis, and procedure codes using ICD-10 CM/PCS
• Assess record completion, assign deficiencies, and follow up on incomplete records for timely billing
• Collect additional clinical data elements and input them into the hospital database

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Certification through AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT, CPC)
• 4+ years of experience as a coding specialist for inpatient or outpatient services
• Pediatric experience preferred
• Knowledge and proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS
• Passing score on Children's Core Coding Competency Assessment required
