Certified Inpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support the revenue cycle, the part-time Certified Inpatient Coding Specialist will review medical record documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRG), ensuring compliance with regulations while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD-10 codes and MS-DRGs based on medical record documentation
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists to ensure completeness of documentation for accurate coding
• Monitor Discharged Not Billed accounts to ensure timely and compliant processing through the revenue cycle

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
• Successful completion of the Coder Proficiency Exam (pre-hire)
• Licensure as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding conventions and CMS compliance issues
