Certified Medical Coder
Job Summary
A company is looking for a Medical Coder Specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform primary diagnosis and procedural coding for surgical specialties and ensure compliance with coding practices
- Educate and train physicians on coding practices and provide real-time feedback on documentation
- Coordinate and mentor the work of coding employees, ensuring quality and accuracy in coding tasks
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical record administration or an associate degree in medical record technology, or equivalent coding diploma
- Four years of coding experience, with at least two years in surgical abstraction
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding conventions
- Familiarity with coding software and reimbursement knowledge
