Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Certified Medical Coder will perform advanced coding for medical documentation, ensuring accurate assignment of procedural terminology and medical codes while addressing coding denials and clarifying internal requests for medical information.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews and assigns codes from medical records in compliance with coding guidelines
• Resolves coding denials and provides feedback for correction and follow-up
• Communicates with internal and external stakeholders to clarify documentation and improve coding accuracy

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience as a medical coder
• Knowledge of ICD-10CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
• Preferred certifications include RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CMC
• Associate's degree is preferred
