Job Summary
To support a dynamic healthcare environment, the full-time Certified Medical Coder will work remotely, focusing on primary diagnosis and procedural coding for surgical specialties, while ensuring compliance and optimizing physician coding practices.
Key responsibilities
- Accurately code primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures from surgical operative reports using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding conventions
- Provide education and training to physicians and other providers on coding practices and clinical documentation
- Mentor and assist in the training of other coders while coordinating quality reporting measures with providers and management
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical record administration or an associate degree in medical record technology, or completion of a coding diploma with extensive training in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Four years of coding experience, including at least two years in surgical abstraction within multi-specialty surgical practices
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
