Job Summary
To support a growing healthcare practice, the full-time Certified Medical Coder will review medical documentation, assign appropriate codes (ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT), and ensure compliance with coding standards while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Review and audit medical records to assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes
- Provide guidance to medical professionals on coding guidelines and documentation accuracy
- Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert on coding compliance
Required qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Certification in Coding required
- Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology, including ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes
- Certifications such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
- Successful completion of coursework in medical terminology or human anatomy/physiology preferred
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
