Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the SDS/Observations Medical Coder will be responsible for assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient Ambulatory Observation services, ensuring adherence to coding guidelines and maintaining coding quality and productivity standards.

Key responsibilities:
  • Identify and assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient Ambulatory Observation services
  • Analyze and correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits, and provide documentation feedback to providers
  • Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in coding department meetings and educational events
Required qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Current coding credentials from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC)
  • 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Same Day Surgery Coding
  • Intermediate proficiency with Windows, including MS Excel and EMR systems
