Job Summary
Working remotely on a full-time basis, the SDS/Observations Medical Coder will be responsible for assigning CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient Ambulatory Observation services, ensuring adherence to coding guidelines and maintaining coding quality and productivity standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient Ambulatory Observation services
- Analyze and correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits, and provide documentation feedback to providers
- Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge and participate in coding department meetings and educational events
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Current coding credentials from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC)
- 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience
- 2+ years of experience with Same Day Surgery Coding
- Intermediate proficiency with Windows, including MS Excel and EMR systems
