Job Summary
Supporting the VA Office of Veterans Community Care, the full-time remote Certified Medical Coder will review and validate medical coding sets, translate diagnoses into standardized codes, and ensure compliance with VA coding policies.
Key responsibilities
- Review and validate medical coding sets for accuracy and compliance
- Translate diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes using ICD, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Perform coding quality assurance, audits, and prepare coding reports
Required qualifications
- Certificate Program required
- Minimum of three (3) years of coding experience
- Must possess AHIMA or AAPC certification (Apprentice/Associate, Mastery-Level, or Clinical Documentation Improvement)
- Strong understanding of VHA coding systems and code sets
