Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

Seeking a full-time remote Certified Medical Coder, the position will manage the accurate review of medical records and assignment of ICD-10 and CPT codes, ensuring compliance with regulations while supporting clinical staff on documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Abstracts data and assigns accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes based on medical record documentation
• Utilizes practice management systems to manage patient demographics and services for surgical cases
• Educates clinical staff on proper documentation and coding to ensure accurate billing and compliance

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred
• Accredited certification by CCS-P or CPC is required
• 3-5 years of professional medical coding experience, preferably in orthopedics or related fields
• Experience with coding audits, payer guidelines, and resolving coding discrepancies is preferred
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS Level II, and coding guidelines
