Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support the revenue cycle team, the full-time Certified Medical Coder will assign accurate ICD-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes for diagnoses and procedures while working remotely from Illinois or Michigan during flexible daytime hours.

Key responsibilities

• Assign accurate coding for diagnoses and procedures in compliance with coding guidelines
• Abstract necessary information for statistical and reimbursement purposes
• Collaborate with the revenue cycle team to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA approved coding certificate program with relevant certification
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, and coding guidelines
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
• Ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods without distraction
