Job Summary

Supporting a diverse range of clients, the full-time Certified Medical Coder will primarily code for dermatology while also applying orthopedic knowledge to ensure coding integrity, compliance, and denial resolution in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Translate clinical documentation into accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes, focusing on dermatology and orthopedic procedures
• Validate provider documentation against E/M leveling guidelines and communicate directly with practice managers and physicians regarding any discrepancies
• Research and resolve complex coding-related denials, utilizing AI tools to draft appeals and expedite processes

Required qualifications

• Active AAPC certification with 1 to 2 years of medical coding experience, particularly in dermatology
• Experience in orthopedic coding is highly desirable
• Proficiency in navigating modern EHR and practice management systems such as ModMed, EZDERM, and eCW
• Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with AI tools and a focus on efficiency in coding practices
