Certified Medical Coder II

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Medical Coder II, Inpatient Hospital Full Time Remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Abstracts information from patient records and assigns appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes
• Queries physicians for clarification on documentation and coding assignments
• Monitors coding work queues and ensures accuracy in billing and reimbursement processes

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Successful completion of a coding certificate program with AHIMA approval preferred
• Associate degree or equivalent training through at least three years of on-the-job experience required
• Certification required within one year of hire; acceptable certifications include RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CCA
• Knowledge of coding guidelines for ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes
• Extensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
