Certified Medical Coding Educator

Job Summary

To enhance coding practices, the full-time remote Certified Medical Coding Educator will develop and deliver education programs, conduct coding audits, and analyze coding data while ensuring compliance and accuracy in coding processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develops and implements comprehensive coding education programs for new and existing staff, including ongoing updates on coding guidelines and best practices
• Performs regular internal coding audits to assess accuracy and compliance, providing feedback and monitoring corrective actions
• Analyzes coding data and trends to identify areas for improvement and generates reports for department leadership

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field
• Four years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or equivalent certification required
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and relevant healthcare compliance standards
• Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and coding encoder software
