Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Medical Coding Specialist II - Multi Surgical Specialty, ENT/Plastics.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize encoder, grouper software, and coding resources to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives, Local Coverage Documents, and Medicare guidelines to select appropriate codes and modifiers
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and institutional guidelines in coding practices

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education required, or an active coding certification in lieu of education
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• 1 year of progressive coding experience required
• 2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties preferred
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification required upon hire
