Job Summary
To support healthcare billing accuracy, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Specialist will analyze claims, apply coding standards, and ensure compliance with federal regulations, working independently in a dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient billing for medical appropriateness and compliance
- Apply national and international coding standards to claims and prepare documentation for audits
- Monitor trends in coding practices and communicate findings across departments
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related field or completion of medical coding certification curriculum
- Current nursing certification or certified coder (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA/RHIT)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or auditing
- Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient hospital billing requirements and international equivalents
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
