Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a dynamic healthcare environment, the full-time remote Certified Medical Coding Specialist II will utilize coding software to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to determine appropriate coding for various medical specialties
• Apply knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and Medicare guidelines to select appropriate codes and modifiers
• Maintain coding accuracy and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education required, or an active coding certification in lieu of education
• 1 year of progressive coding experience required, with specific experience for HCC roles as applicable
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or other relevant coding certification required upon hire
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• 2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties preferred
