Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a Medical Group, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Specialist will analyze physician/provider documentation to determine diagnoses and procedures while utilizing encoder software applications in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze health records to identify principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures
• Utilize encoder software and online tools for accurate coding assignments
• Maintain compliance with coding standards and guidelines while working independently

Required qualifications

• Two years of current coding experience
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Procedural Coder (CPC)
• Completion of an AHIMA-approved or AAPC-approved coding program, or an Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field
• Current experience with encoding/grouping software is preferred
• High School Diploma required; Associate's degree preferred
