Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing surgical coding team, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Specialist will utilize coding software and resources to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines in a 100% remote capacity.

Key responsibilities:

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to determine appropriate coding for surgical procedures
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply relevant coding guidelines
• Ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines and institutional policies in coding practices

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent with medical coding education, or an active coding certification
• 1 year of progressive coding experience
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or other relevant coding certification upon hire
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• 2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties preferred
