Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Utilizing encoder and coding resources, the full-time Medical Coding Specialist II will work remotely to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and directives.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to determine appropriate coding for medical procedures
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply relevant coding guidelines
• Ensure compliance with Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines and other regulatory requirements

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education required, or active coding certification in lieu of education
• 1 year of progressive coding experience required
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification required upon hire
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• 2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties preferred
