Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a leading healthcare organization, the full-time remote Certified Medical Coding Specialist will utilize coding software to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and coding initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to determine appropriate coding for medical records
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply regulatory requirements to coding practices
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and coding compliance

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education, or an active coding certification
• 1 year of progressive coding experience
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification required upon hire
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• Experience in multiple specialties or HCC Risk adjustment coding preferred
