Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing pediatric and multi-specialty practice, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Specialist will utilize coding software to determine appropriate codes, maintain knowledge of regulatory guidelines, and resolve payer denials while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and coding resources to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply regulatory requirements to select codes and modifiers
• Resolve payer denials and respond to inquiries from revenue cycle teams, processing charge corrections as needed

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education, or an active coding certification
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• 1 year of progressive coding experience preferred
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification required within 1 year
• Experience in multiple specialties or HCC Risk Adjustment Coding preferred
