Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a dynamic orthopedic outpatient practice, the full-time Certified Medical Coding Specialist will utilize coding software to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines in a 100% remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to determine appropriate coding for various procedures
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply relevant coding guidelines
• Ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines and institutional coding policies

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with medical coding education, or an active coding certification
• 1 year of progressive coding experience in a healthcare setting
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification required upon hire
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• Experience in multiple specialties preferred
