Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing multi-specialty practice, the full-time remote Certified Medical Coding Specialist II will utilize coding software to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to determine appropriate coding for various medical services
• Maintain knowledge of coding initiatives and apply relevant guidelines to select accurate codes and modifiers
• Ensure compliance with National Correct Coding Initiatives and Medicare guidelines during the coding process

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education, or an active coding certification
• 1 year of progressive coding experience in a healthcare setting
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification upon hire
• Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
• Experience in multiple specialties or HCC Risk adjustment coding preferred
