Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a dynamic healthcare environment, the full-time Medical Coding Specialist II will work remotely to utilize coding software and resources for accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and coding resources to determine appropriate specialty-specific codes and Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply regulatory requirements to select appropriate codes and modifiers
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate coding practices and compliance with institutional guidelines

Required qualifications

• Medical coding education or Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field
• 1 year of progressive coding experience
• Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC), Outpatient Coder (COC), Inpatient Coder (CIC), or equivalent upon hire
• Experience in multiple specialties preferred
• Knowledge of HCC Risk Adjustment Coding preferred
