Certified Medical Coding Specialist

Job Summary

To support a growing orthopedic and rehabilitation practice, the full-time Medical Coding Specialist II will utilize coding software to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in a 100% remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to determine appropriate coding for various medical services
• Maintain knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives and apply relevant guidelines to select codes and modifiers
• Ensure compliance with institutional guidelines and regulatory requirements in coding practices

Required qualifications

• Medical coding education or an active coding certification in lieu of education
• 1 year of progressive coding experience required
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification upon hire required
• Experience in multiple specialties preferred
• Knowledge of HCC Risk Adjustment Coding preferred
