Job Summary
To support a high-volume coding environment, the full-time remote Certified Medical Coding Specialist will assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes for various ambulatory encounters while maintaining compliance with official coding guidelines and payer policies.
Key responsibilities:
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes for ambulatory encounters per official coding guidelines
- Resolve coding-related claim rejections and denials by reviewing payer responses and applying corrected codes or modifiers
- Maintain coding accuracy at or above client-defined thresholds while meeting daily productivity targets
Required qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of medical coding experience
- Current coding certification through AAPC (CPC, COC) or AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT) preferred
- Expert command of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier rules
- Familiarity with encoder tools and EHR/PMS systems
