Job Summary

A company is looking for a Medical Records Technician (Coder- Outpatient).

Key Responsibilities

• Assigns codes to outpatient patient care encounters and surgical procedures
• Conducts quality reviews of patient records to ensure accurate coding and compliance with guidelines
• Utilizes computer systems to code, abstract, and transmit data to the national database

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• U.S. Citizenship is required
• One year of experience in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical coding
• Associate's degree in health information technology or related field, or completion of an AHIMA approved coding program
• Certification through AHIMA or AAPC is required
• Completion of a medical technician training program may be considered equivalent experience
