Job Summary
A company is looking for a Medical Records Technician (Coder-Outpatient).
Key Responsibilities
- Assign codes to outpatient and inpatient professional services using ICD, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines
- Review health record documentation to ensure accurate coding and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Utilize computer systems to code, abstract, and transmit data to the national database while correcting any identified errors
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- One year of experience in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical coding
- Associate's degree in health information technology or completion of an AHIMA approved coding program
- Certification through AHIMA or AAPC is required
- Preferred experience includes five years in medical records coding
