Job Summary
Performing complex analysis and data abstraction, the part-time Certified Oncology Data Specialist will extract patient data from electronic medical records, screen clinical documents for reportable cancer cases, and maintain data collection for cancer registry patients in a remote setting.
Key responsibilities
- Retrieve and upload manual case finding lists into cancer registry software as required by market assignments
- Screen disease indices and clinical documents to identify reportable cancer cases for case finding
- Ensure high levels of abstraction accuracy and compliance with oncology regulatory standards during primary data abstraction duties
Required qualifications
- Oncology Data Specialist credential from the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) required prior to hire or transfer
- Registrar specializing in Tumors preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience, or completion of an NCRA-Accredited Certificate Program, or an Associate's/Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of applicable experience required
